General guidelines for the submission of manuscripts
(Español)
Revista de Educación publishes basic and applied research,
as well as systematized innovation experiences, essays and
reports and reviews of recent publications of educational
interest*.
All the papers are subject to external assessment. The original
paper will be anonymously reviewed by at least two external
experts (this will be done according to the double-blind method,
in which the anonymity of the author(s) is also kept in the
designation of the reviewers by the Secretarial Department
of Revista de Educación). The reviewers will inform
about the suitability of the paper for its publication and
can make recommendations on the need to adjust its content
and/or presentation. Reviewed versions are also checked by
these external experts until its publication.
Agreeing with all:
- All manuscripts must be original or unpublished
papers, with the understanding that they are currently not
being reviewed by any other publication. This should
be specified by the author(s) in the accompanying letter
of request for evaluation.
- The receipt of a paper does not constitute a commitment
for its acceptance for publication.
- Submission of manuscripts and style of presentation:
- Provide 1 copy of the original manuscript (on DIN-A4
paper and using Word as text processor) and a file copy
stored on a CD-ROM or diskette. Any reference to the
author(s) of the paper will be omitted from them.
- At the head of the paper's first page the following
information should appear:
- Paper title (should be concise, descriptive of
its content and written in Spanish and English).
- Descriptors or key words (max. 8) in Spanish and
English.
- It should be specified on a separate sheet of
paper:
- Author or authors' first and last name, working
place (University, Department, etc.) and current mailing
and email addresses.
- Type of paper: a) Research project; b) Essay or
report; or c) Educational experience. It must not
to exceed the length (see 5th).
- Length:
- Research projects or studies should not exceed
8,000 words. Educational experiences, essays and
reports should not exceed 4,000 words. In these
cases, notes, references, bibliography and graphic elements
will be included in the aforementioned length. The full
version of the paper will be published in the electronic
edition of Revista de Educación.
- The total of words of each paper must include a 250
word abstract in Spanish and English, which will be
published in the printed edition of Revista de Educación.
- In the case of research projects and studies it is recommended
that the paper should include, at least, the following aspects:
description of the problem or subject matter under analysis,
prior work and theoretical bases, organization and methodology,
results, limitations, conclusions and further developments,
if appropriate.
- 6. It is recommended that papers should be written according
to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association (5th edition). Therefore, a list of references,
in alphabetical order, should be included at the end of
the manuscript and should meet the following criteria**:
- Books:
- Complete work:
For one author’s works: last name in small
capital characters, comma, first name initial, full
stop, year of publication in brackets, full stop,
book title in italics, full stop, place of publication,
colon, publishing house, full stop.
DARLING-HAMMOND, L. (2001). El derecho de aprender.
Crear buenas escuelas para todos. Barcelona: Ariel.
If two or more authors are present, they are
to be separated by a comma, except for the last
one that is preceded by “and” or “&”,
e.g.:
GREEN, A., LENEY, T. y WOLFF, A. (2001). Convergencias
y divergencias en los sistemas europeos de educación
y formación profesional. Barcelona: Pomares.
- Chapter book:
GUBA, E. G. (1983). Criterios de credibilidad en
la investigación naturalista. En J. GIMENO
SACRISTÁN y A. PÉREZ GÓMEZ
(comps.), La enseñanza: su teoría
y su práctica (pp.148-165). Madrid: Akal.
- Presentations, symposia, conferences and
seminars:
MORENO OLMEDILLA, J. M. (2001). La conflictividad
en el aula. I Congreso Regional de Atención
a la Diversidad de Castilla y León, Valladolid,
1-4 febrero (en papel).
- Different works by the same author:
BRUNER, J. (1961). El proceso de la educación.
México: Uteha.
— (1985): En busca de la mente. México:
Fondo de Cultura Económica.
— (1988): Desarrollo cognitivo y educación.
Madrid: Morata.
If the year of publishing is the same, it will be
necessary to make the difference with a letter (a,
b, etc.) after the year.
- Mention of editors or coordinators:
FERNÁNDEZ BERROCAL, P. y MELERO ZABAL, M.
A. (coords.) (1995). La interacción social
en contextos educativos. Madrid: Siglo XXI.
- Journals: Author or authors' last
name and first name initials separated by a comma and
in small capital characters, year of publication in
brackets, full stop, paper title, full stop, journal
title in italics, comma, journal issue, comma, and journal
pages covered by the manuscript. If two or more authors
are present, they are to be separated by a semicolon;
e.g.:
GARCÍA ROMERO, A. y FERNÁNDEZ ALADO,
C. (1996). El sistema educativo en la nueva reforma.
Revista de Educación, 309, 498-789.
- Electronic Sources: documents in
Internet cited as bibliographic references will appear
after the standard bibliography under the title "Electronic
Sources". The foundation or body corresponding
to that page, written in small capital characters and
followed by the date of access to that address will
be mentioned in brackets. E. g. http://www.revistaeducacion.mec.es
(Last accessed on 23/11/2005)

- Notes should be numbered consecutively and the information
corresponding to them should be printed at the bottom of
each page, restricted until maximum. Simple bibliography
references have to be avoided; in that case they will be
inserted in the text mentioning the author and the year
of publication in brackets. Then, the complete reference
will be included in the bibliography (see point 7).
- Direct citations should be distinguished from the rest
by means of inverted commas, and followed by the author's
last name and first name initials, year of publication and
pages from where the text has been extracted; all of which
should appear in brackets.
- Diagrams, pictures, figures, tables, photographs, etc.
should be those necessary to complete or clarify the text.
They should be numbered consecutively depending on the short
(table, graphic…) and must be submitted in black and
white. Graphics, diagrams and tables should not be images,
so that further changes, if needed, may be possible.
- The author should include the following information when
citing this journal: Revista de Educación, number,
pages and year of publication.
* Authors should consider that the Journal publishes more
original research projects, so the rest of manuscripts (essays,
reports and experiences) could be published later.
